• A Catholic View On Marriage + Sexuality

  • 'A Catholic View On Marriage + Sexuality' logically and systematically brings to light the Catholic perspective of marriage and sexuality based on the 'Theology of the Body'. In an attempt to echo the various levels of meaning which the subject matter covers, we considered if there was an image which could represent it all: from the idea of two bodies becoming one and the procreation of a new being, to the communion with the circular bread which represents the Body of Christ and the embodiment of the Holy Spirit through the union of two people. And as the book is primarily targeted at young couples, the cover had to appear modern and relevant, as compared to many Christian books which look too stuffy and outdated.

The solution was to use the abstract imagery of two circular bodies in communion (one in a bluish and the other in a pinkish tone) on the front cover, while the back cover shows how a new colour is formed when the two shapes merge completely. Rather than limiting the cover to a single message, using an abstract symbol has proved to be effective in communicating the various meanings to various people.
